Huh?

Overheard on TV, a promo for a travel show: "Up next, the world's ten-best Mexican beaches!"

Umm. . . . Are some of them in Algeria?

  1. Sometimes we put together words and they DO make a sentence, technically. But a thought?

  2. Up next, the ten best Mexican beaches in the world? Mot being a grammar expert, I can't comment on the structure but I cetainly understood the intent.

  3. Okay, with Dianne's rephrasing, I see what you were commenting on. BUT... her REphrasing is NOT the original phrasing. Of course the 10 best Mexican beaches would have to be in Mexico so D's phrasing would pose a silly statement. But a list of the world's 10 best Mexican is perfectly plausible as would be a follow-up of theworld's 10 best Japanese beaches, and the world's 10 best European beaches, and world's best Kansas beaches.
